Name: Alyson Argabrite
Company: Martin and Zerfoss Independent Insurance Agency
Position: New Business Producer; Marketing Representative
Education: Bachelor of Science in Advertising, University of Tennessee, 2009
Hometown: Kingsport, Tennessee
Bio: I grew up in Kingsport, Tennessee and wanted to go somewhere close by for college. I decided on the University of Tennessee after discovering their advertising and communications program. While in school, I enjoyed attending all sporting events and hanging out with my sisters of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. I served as the PR Chair and Housing Manager my sophomore and junior years. After I graduated last May, I job searched for a couple months and when a friend told me about an opening at Martin & Zerfoss, I landed in Nashville. The insurance industry hadn’t crossed my mind, yet after meeting the staff and learning more about my responsibilities, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. In my 8 months at Martin & Zerfoss I have learned so much about business and the “real world.” I enjoy my line of work because I’m always learning new things, every day is different, and I work for wonderful people. I think Nashville is a great city and I love being here.
Hobbies: Running, photography, traveling, reading and reality TV.
Job/Responsibilities: I am in charge of writing new home, auto, commercial, life, and health insurance accounts. In addition to insurance sales, I am in charge of handling my boss’ new business accounts for his bank insurance program. This involves talking to the bank underwriters during the quotation process. Lastly, I am a marketing representative for two of the insurance companies we represent. I create monthly newsletters and go on agency visits when I have the chance.
Goals/Aspirations: I want to be successful in my career and several years from now, I hope to own my own business. I also want to run a full marathon one day and backpack in Europe.
What affect has the Junior Chamber had on you: The junior chamber has had a very positive affect on me. I joined after moving to Nashville because I only had a few friends here from school. I wanted to find a quick way to meet other young professionals and the chamber turned out to be perfect. Everyone I have met has been so nice and helpful. A few individuals have gone above and beyond to make me feel welcome, and I appreciate that. Also, I really enjoy being the co-chair for Networking on the Green. I like planning events and meeting new people along the way. Plus golf has always been an interest because of my Dad–he is an amazing player and athlete!
Additional Information: I love spending time at the beach.
