History
Nashville is growing and developing in new and exciting directions… a result of the vision of our community and its leaders. Many of the people who have been integral in Nashville’s renaissance were and are Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce members. And, much like our vibrant city, the NAJCC has forged a path towards greater success.
We can attribute much of where the NAJCC is today to four members of the Commercial Club, now the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, who in 1921 had a vision for a new organization in this city. This is an organization that would top the incredible energy, creativity and potential of young people for the betterment of the community and an organization that would create leaders.
Today, the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce counts among its alumni the real movers and shakers in this community. For instance, our alumni played a key role in the development and on-going work of the Nashville Sports Council. We’ve made a tremendous impact and it’s safe to say that Nashville would be a very different city today if not for the Junior Chamber. Our organization has created key Nashville traditions like the Clinic Bowl and helped found Buddies of Nashville, while donating millions of dollars to Nashville’s worthy causes. As a result, we have attracted national attention for our organization and helped shape the city, as we know it. The economic impact of this organization is arguably unmatched by any other YP organization. Our alumnae stretch across a wide array of public and private industries, ranging from U.S. Ambassadors and Senators to local and national CEO’s.
During the next decade, I believe the NAJCC legacy will continue to lead and mold the very being of this city, thanks to the pioneering path that our alumni set and that we continue to map out today. We are Nashville’s foremost training grounds for tomorrow’s leaders.
Our plan works with the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce overall goals while providing our members an avenue through which to contribute to Nashville’s business and community development, and gain valuable leadership and business skills.
It is an honor to be a part of such a strong, caring and effective organization. It is thanks to our members and alumni that the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce has celebrated over 87 successful years and is looking forward to even better things in the 25, 50 and 75 years to come.
